Pray for the nation of Israel?
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
Genesis 12:3
God calls the nation of Israel "the apple of His eye" (Zech 2:8), the Latin word for (eye) pupil is puplliam which means apple. Because the pupil was thought to be solid and apple shaped. Since the pupil is essential to sight it is to be protected so this saying came to mean anything extremely precious. The Hebrew phrase is translated "You are the little man in the eye" meaning seeing one's own reflection in the eye of another. God is saying he sees His reflection in His chosen people.
In the last several years 12% of Nobel Prizes awarded in chemistry, physics and medicine have been won by Jewish men and women even though the number of Jewish people represent less than one-third of one percent of the world's population. The discoveries and advances they have made in these fields have benefited all of mankind. Truly God is using His people to bless us.
